The SLX series is Atacama’s most professional speaker stand series and is used when a larger top plate is required.
The SLX series features a four-column design and provides a fairly stable platform for placing larger bookshelf speakers and other technical equipment. Insulating gel pads from Atacama and modern cable management are also part of these stylish speaker stands.
These high-quality speaker stands from Atacama were specially developed in terms of design and construction for discerning sound lovers.
The stands are extremely stable and minimize the transmission of case vibrations.
With a height of 30-70 centimeters (without isolation gel pads and floor spikes), the SLX series ensures optimal speaker placement.
The speaker stands are made of heavy-gauge steel with heavy-duty mountings to ensure optimal rigidity.
Each SLX tripod pair features new 5 mm laser-cut carbon steel baseplates, eight adjustable BZP 8 mm ground spikes with stainless steel top caps, and improved High-Load Trapezoid (HLT) isolation gel pads for the headplates.
For improved performance, the SLX series always comes with insulating gel pads as standard.
These pads protect the bottom of the speaker, reduce the risk of slipping and create a damping barrier on the speaker, thus improving the sound quality.
Ground spikes are also included as standard.
To protect sensitive floor coverings, special Atacama washers are also available from us if required.
The top plate is made of a thick steel plate. All SLX speaker stands have identical standard head plates measuring 225 mm wide and 225 mm deep and identical standard base plates measuring 305 mm wide and 305 mm deep. Please note: The width/depth dimensions of the supported speakers should not exceed the dimensions of the speaker stand.
The stand color is satin black.
The SLX series speaker stands are designed and manufactured in the UK.
Atacama’s SLX speaker stands are available in the following sizes: SLX300 = 345 mm (13.6″); SLX400 = 445 mm (17.5″); SLX500 = 545 mm (21.5″); SLX600 = 645 mm (25.4″); SLX700 = 745 mm (27.5″)
Note
Atacama recommends Atabite SMD-Z 7HD inert filler for maximum acoustic performance.
Atacama recommends that each pair of SLX stands be filled two-thirds full with Atabite SMD-Z 7HD filler to maximize their sonic potential.
Atabite Quantity Recommendation:
The following indicates the recommended number of buckets to be shared between each speaker stand. All vertical columns should be filled equally. The quantities given are approximate and do not necessarily fill the pipes completely. We recommend that you experiment with the exact amount to achieve the best sound results for your specific system, as the speakers, room acoustics, wiring harness, speaker positioning, and hi-fi components will determine how much Atabite filler is used to achieve the best sound from your speakers.
Typically, about half to two-thirds fill produces the best results. If you notice that the speakers lack high-end detail and sound muffled at the bottom, this usually means you’ve overfilled the stands and need to reduce the volume of the atabites in each stand.
If the speakers are new, it’s recommended that the exact amount of atabites required is best determined once they’ve been broken in. Refer to your speaker’s instructions or contact the supplying dealer/manufacturer for recommendations.
SLX300 = 2 buckets; SLX400 = 3 buckets; SLX500 = 4 buckets; SLX600 = 5 buckets; SLX700 = 6 buckets
For every speaker stand, you will find a suitable model for your audio components in our Hi-Fi Racks category.

From Aerospace to Audio Excellence
The story of Atacama began in 1969 as a supplier in the demanding world of aerospace. The company earned the trust of renowned clients such as Rolls-Royce and British Aerospace, perfecting its skills in high-precision metalworking.A Passion for Sound Ignited
However, a passion for audio remained very much alive within the company. In 1987, Atacama began developing a revolutionary HiFi loudspeaker stand. Initial reactions were positive, but a focus on the core aerospace business meant the project was initially put on hold.A Dream Comes True
In 1989, a new family member joined the company, bringing the potential of these loudspeaker stands back into the spotlight. In the early 1990s, economic challenges compelled the company to diversify its product range. Atacama reimagined the concept of the loudspeaker stand, recognizing its unique qualities: Performance-Oriented Design: Superior acoustic isolation and excellent value for money compared to industrial-looking competing products. Visual Design: A design aesthetic that perfectly complements high-end HiFi systems. The Atacama Brand Takes Flight
In 1992, the company introduced the elegant "SE" series of loudspeaker stands under the Atacama brand. A targeted marketing campaign—along with glowing reviews from *HiFi Choice* and *What HiFi?*—helped the SE24 model earn the coveted "Best Buy" and "Hi-Fi Accessory of the Year" awards.A Commitment to Innovation
Building on this success, Atacama expanded its product range in 2001 with the introduction of the award-winning Equinox series of HiFi racks. The company's technical expertise led to the exploration of new materials, with bamboo composites coming particularly into focus starting in 2011. This innovative approach yielded not only sonic and functional performance advantages but also offered an eco-friendly alternative to traditional hardwoods. The Apollo Brand Joins the Family
The acquisition of Apollo HiFi in 2013 enabled the company to pursue distinct developmental paths. While Atacama focuses on bamboo and performance-oriented design, Apollo caters to customers who value a traditional wood aesthetic as well as practical features, such as vinyl storage solutions.A Tradition of Award-Winning Design
Over the years, both brands have consistently garnered acclaim. Atacama racks—such as the Eris Eco 5, the Evoque Eco 60-40 Standard SE, and the Evoque Eco 60-40 SE2 (crafted from bamboo)—were awarded the "Equipment Support of the Year" title between 2013 and 2023. The Moseco speaker stand also achieved a remarkable streak of annual awards from *What HiFi?* Apollo’s modular Storm 6 HiFi system, as well as the new Atacama Elite Eco 24 rack, recently received the prestigious 5-star rating as well. The Future of HiFi Furniture
Atacama’s passion for innovation remains undiminished. The speaker stands in the NeXXus series impressively demonstrate this commitment, offering extensive customization options regarding height and top-plate size. Thanks to the recent acquisition of the HiFi Racks brand, the company is poised to further expand its range of HiFi furniture and finishes in the future. Atacama Audio and Apollo HiFi remain dedicated to a singular goal: not merely to meet expectations for HiFi speaker stands and AV rack systems, but to exceed them. Customers can expect further innovative products in the coming years as well.2 x Atacama SLX400 speaker stands in black
